I’m hoping to use the next several posts to get caught up on all the little projects I have done over the last several months – although not necessarily in order. Today I’m featuring a card I made for a friend of mine for his 50th birthday back in November. The party was a Mad Men theme, and he also enjoys a good martini, so of course I had to use my Cricut (with the Jubilee cartridge) to cut out this super cute martini glass!
I cut the glass out of Grey Wool (retired color) cardstock and glued the negative space to a white card base. Since this was meant to be a masculine card, I wanted to make it more simple and elegant but with just a bit of sparkle. The Silver Shimmer Trim (one of my fave products) was absolutely perfect for this, and one red glitter gem as the pimento for the olive helped balance the sparkle across the card. I also used this card as an opportunity to try a new technique with the sentiment.
I stamped the sentiment (from the Card Chatter – Birthday stamp set) using the new Mini Pigment Inks. Since the ink is pigment-based, it doesn’t soak into the cardstock but stays wet for a bit and has a really deep, true color. While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and used my craft heater to set it. The result is those beautiful glossy letters you see – LOVE!
This card only took me about 30 minutes to make but was a nice personal touch for my friend. It also complemented the accompanying gift – gourmet martini olives – quite nicely!
Hi there scrappinistas! Wow, life has been super busy lately. I’ve been keeping up with my 3 beautiful kiddos (and trying to take an occasional picture of them!), had a business trip to Paris (awesome!), and ran my first ever half-marathon! So sorry for the lack of action here on the blog. The big news is that it is my first anniversary with Close to My Heart! That means I’m offering some great deals, so contact me to learn more!
In the coming weeks, I hope to be posting some of the artwork I have been creating over the last several months. In the meantime, enjoy this cool video from Corporate showing how to add a little sparkle to your layouts and cards. I am a big fan of the Shimmer Trim and Glitz Glitter Gel featured in the videos and would be happy to show you how to make the most of these products on your creations. Best of all, these are both embellishments that are very cost-effective! Enjoy!

Hello Scrappinistas! Since starting this blog I have been overrun with events that required cards. Today – FINALLY – I am posting a layout I made recently that highlights many of the great products available right now. More importantly, it highlights a truly fun day with my girls…especially one chocolate-lover in particular :)
This layout features the Clementine paper pack. In the Idea Book this one has a very Country/Western feel to it but I love how versatile all the CTMH paper packs are – by using only certain patterned paper and embellishments, the paper gives a whimsical feel while still showing off the pictures. The Saddle cardstock (one of our new exclusive colors) really shows off that chocolate ice cream, don’t you think? And I love how this layout allows you to really focus on the pictures. I took this layout (and modified it a bit to fit my photos)from the new Make It From Your Heart book. This book is super-fabulous, featuring blueprints for both layouts and cards and is an absolute steal at only $7.95. It’s a must-have. Literally, this entire layout took me only an hour to do, and anyone who has scrapbooked with me before knows that I am typically a 3+ hour-per-layout type of person.
Speaking of must-have, do you see the cute little circles I used for my title, plus the “Enjoy the Ride” sentiment on the right page? All those came from the double-D stamp set It’s Your Day – available exclusively in September in honor of National Stamping Month. You get 2 D-sized stamp sets (total retail value $35.90) for only $5 with a $35 purchase! Deal of the century! If you are a traditional scrapbooker, this stamp set is for you. If you are a cardmaker, this stamp set is for you. If you are doing Stacy Higgins’ Project Life, this stamp set is for you. Seriously, run – don’t walk – to erin.ctmh.com (or click on Shop With Me on my blog homepage) and get yours today! It’s only available until September 30.
I hope this layout inspires you to create something of your own to showcase your memories too. I’ll include my supply list here in case you are interested in recreating (minus the chocolately smile of my youngest kiddo of course!) and picking up some of these products toward your qualifying purchase for the It’s Your Day double stamp set.

Hi everyone! I just had to share a card I made recently for a co-worker’s wedding. Isn’t it cute?
One of the things I love most about Close to My Heart products is that there is a palette of colors that coordinates across all their paper packs. That means I can take paper scraps left over from other projects, jazz it up with a scalloped edge courtesy of my Cricut, stamp a couple of sentiments (from an oldie-but-goodie retired stamp set), and use some current embellishments and a trendy ink color to tie it all together! In this case, I used Lagoon ink and a matching flower from the Paradise Just Blooms Paper Flowers. The larger one is from the same flower pack in Smoothie. A little bling from the Sparkles Brown and Tan Assortment and it’s done! Well, almost…check out my new “signature” on the backs of my homemade cards:
I used my E Monogram Stamp (seriously, at $2.95 everyone needs to pick up a Monogram of their own!) and 2nd generation stamping with Lagoon ink. Second generation stamping is where you stamp on a piece of scrap paper first to get some of the ink off. This leads to a nice, pale shade of the original color. It’s like having twice as many inkpads – sweet!
Remember, if you found my blog from the local United Way auction, make sure you place your bid before the end of the auction on Monday afternoon! And even if you don’t win the auction, you’re still a winner in my eyes and will get a special gift from me just for bidding – click HERE for more details!
I am so excited to get to be a part of supporting a wonderful cause this month. Several local organizations rally together this time of year in a community fundraising campaign for United Way. One local company is hosting an online auction to raise funds, and I have included a gift certificate to Close to My Heart as a prize! If you have made it to this page via the online auction, welcome! I wanted to let you know that I consider each person that bids on this item to be a winner as you are desiring to support such an important organization to our community. Therefore, I will be offering anyone who bids on the gift certificate a special offer as well – place a $25 order by October 31 and receive your choice of an inkpad or a 2-pack of our new alcohol-based markers FREE! So even if you don’t win the grand prize, you are still a winner with The Scrappinista! Happy bidding!
